ISO TC286 Collaborative Business Relationships

Continued Development of the ISO 44001 Series

8th September 2017

We have just completed a hectic week in Stockholm, helping to further develop the ISO 44001 series of standards and guides for collaborative business relationships.

Although the main purpose of the meeting was the continued development of ISO 44002, the new guide, discussions also covered the development of a summary 'principles' document and a guide to collaboration for SMEs.

The ICW has already published a principles document, which may provide a basis for a similar ISO document, and the Italian delegation are keen to provide a framework for networks of SMEs that are common in innovative industrial sectors.

We have some significant work to do on all documents before it will be worth calling a plenary meeting.  Thus, we expect the next Technical Committee to be held in late spring 2018 and, hopefully, in the far-east.

The presentation proved to be timely, with the Minister of Works commenting on the export performance of Malaysian developers and contractors, and the Chief Executive of the Construction Industry Development Board commenting on the need for contractors to forge JVs in order to be able to undertake major infrastructure projects in the Region.
